At Kaphal, we believe in coffee for its versatile flavours and its ability to connect people and communities. Each roast is a step in our ongoing journey of learning and refining our craft. We source small quantities directly from farms and share our knowledge openly, growing together through every cup.
The name Kaphal comes from the Kaphal fruit, a wild berry native to the hills of Uttarakhand. Much like the coffee cherry, the Kaphal fruit is small, red, and full of flavour — a symbol of nature's simplicity and richness.
Every roast begins with our Aillio Bullet R1 — a compact yet powerful roaster that gives us complete control over each batch. It combines precision engineering with small-batch flexibility, making it perfect for our approach to roasting fresh, to order.
The roaster utilises induction heating for fast, efficient, and stable heat transfer, complemented by infrared sensors that accurately measure bean temperature in real-time. This allows us to fine-tune every roast curve, bringing out the natural sweetness, balance, and unique character of each coffee.
And to maintain consistency across batches, we use a colour meter to measure the roast level of every batch we produce. It helps us stay precise, ensuring that each coffee you receive tastes exactly as intended.
We source only the finest beans and roast them with precision to bring out their unique characteristics.

Based in Roorkee, we're proud to be part of Uttarakhand's growing artisan food movement. Our location in the foothills of the Himalayas inspires our commitment to natural, authentic flavors.
We mostly Roast to Order. However, if we have in stock a recently roasted batch of the same coffee you ordered, we shall ship that. Coffee flavours enhance after an initial resting period of 5-7 days and usually peak in the following week. So you still get freshly roasted and well-rested beans.
